Course Policies & Guidelines

Early Access:
• The course is members-only before 7:00 AM.

Power Cart Rules:
• All golf carts must remain on course property — no carts on public roads.
• Cart users within the same tee time must share a cart.
• Maximum 2 people per cart. If one rider is 13 or younger, only then can 3 people be in a cart.
• No one under 18 may drive a power cart.
• Riders who are not golfing must pay the cart rider fee.

Non-Golfers on Course:
• Walking non-golfers are permitted — maximum of 2 per group.
• Non-golfers count toward the total group size limit.
• No strollers, bikes, scooters, or similar items allowed on the course.
• Pets are not permitted on the course.

Group Size & Cart Limits:
• Monday–Thursday:
 • Up to 5 golfers, plus 1 non-golfer (max group size: 6)
 • Up to 3 power carts

• Friday–Sunday:
 • Max 4 adults per group
 • Max 2 power carts
 • If at least one golfer is age 13 or under, then 5 people are permitted in one group
• No groups larger than 6 at any time, any day of the week

Junior Golfers:
• Juniors must be 13 or older to golf without an adult.
• If any player is under 13, there must be at least one adult (18+) in the group.
Children 2 and Under Not Permitted on the Course
• For the safety of all guests, children aged 2 and under are not allowed on the golf course. Golf balls can travel at high speeds and pose a serious risk of injury or even death, especially to very young children who may be difficult for other players to see.
• This policy exists to prevent tragic accidents — their safety simply isn’t worth the risk. We appreciate your understanding.

Alcohol & Equipment:
• Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited — all alcohol must be purchased from Jack’s.
• Only golf clubs and golf balls are allowed on the course — no other sports equipment (e.g., baseball gear).
• Every golfer must have their own set of clubs — no sharing allowed.

Tee Time Etiquette:
• When the tee sheet is fully booked, please wait until your scheduled tee time before proceeding to the tee box.

Rain Check & Inclement Weather Policy

Definition of Inclement Weather

Inclement weather includes:

  • Persistent rain
  • Lightning
  • Heavy winds accompanied by a wind warning

Rain Check Guidelines

  • If inclement weather begins within 1.5 hours of your tee time, a rain check will be issued.
  • Rain checks will be issued for 1 to 4 players and for 9 or 18 holes, depending on your original booking and how much of your round was completed.
         • Example: A rain check will not be issued two hours after starting a 9-hole round.
  • Rain checks will reflect whether a power cart or pull cart was included in the booking.
  • Rain checks are issued regardless of payment method (cash, card, voucher, etc.).

Safety Protocol – 30/30 Rule (What to Do in a Storm)

  • If you see lightning, begin counting to 30.
  • If you hear thunder before reaching 30, lightning is close enough to be dangerous.
  • At that point, you may hear three blasts of the air horn — this signals that play is suspended.
  • Stop playing immediately and go indoors or seek proper shelter.
  • You may return to the course only when at least 30 seconds pass between a lightning flash and thunder, and staff confirm that it’s safe to resume play.

Please use common sense and proper golf etiquette at all times to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone on the course.

Private Property Damage Policy

Purpose
This policy clarifies the responsibilities of golfers, homeowners, and Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course regarding damage to private property adjacent to the course. It ensures that all parties understand liability and the process to follow in the event of an incident.

1. Acknowledgement of Risk by Adjacent Property Owners

Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course has operated at its current location since 1961. By purchasing or occupying property next to the course, homeowners acknowledge and accept the inherent risk of living beside an active golf facility, including the possibility of golf balls entering their property.

2. Liability for Damage or Injury

  • Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course is not responsible for any damage or injury to people, pets, or private property including homes, vehicles, landscaping, or possessions, caused by golf balls or the actions of golfers.
  • All golfers are responsible for any damage or injury they cause while playing.
  • The responsibility for repair, replacement, or compensation rests solely with the golfer and the property owner.

3. Reporting Requirements for Golfers

  • Golfers must immediately report any damage they cause to both the affected homeowner and the clubhouse.
  • Reports should include time, location, and a description of the incident.
  • The golf course will, at its discretion, apply internal disciplinary measures to the golfer, which may include suspension or banning from the course.

4. If the Responsible Golfer Cannot Be Identified

  • If the golfer responsible for damage cannot be identified, Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course has no obligation to compensate the homeowner.
  • Staff may assist in facilitating contact between homeowners and potential responsible parties, but this is not an admission of liability.

5. Course Design and Mitigation Measures

  • Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course is under no legal obligation to erect nets, barriers, or alter the course to prevent golf balls from entering private property.
  • Protective measures on private property are the sole responsibility of the property owner, subject to local bylaws.

6. Assumption of Risk by Golfers

By playing at Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course, golfers acknowledge they are responsible for their actions and any resulting damage to private property.

7. Policy Communication

This policy is reinforced through multiple signs posted on the property and included on the Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course website and scorecard.

Violations of Rules and Policies

  • Violations of course rules, policies, guidelines or verbal instructions from a staff member, may result in a verbal warning or immediate removal from the property, depending on severity.
  • Continued or serious infractions may lead to a temporary suspension from the course.
  • Repeat or severe offenses may result in a permanent ban, at the discretion of management.
  • Consequences listed above may not occur in sequential order and will be applied at the discretion of management based on the severity of the offence.
